I have 3 cats. Kahlua is the diabetic. She will eat anything. Even vomit. My other 2 cats I'm trying to transition to LC. They both got constipated on Kahlua's food. Mouse cost us over $1,000. My issue is she will not eat. I've tried transitioning slowly. Nope. She either eats it 1 time and then flat out refuses it ever again. Or vomits. Like projectile. She is very hungry. I've tried probably 8 different foods. I'm going nuts here. Seriously considering putting all of them down. Which I'd never do, but I am losing it. I have no idea what to do anymore. I give up.

When my cats quit eating for any reason, I boil chicken, cut it up and feed them that. As soon as I feel they're getting better I add the chicken to soft food. Don't give up, I know how hard and frustrating it can be

If Kahlua may have IBS, you may want to consider novel proteins. Poultry, beef, and fish can often be foods that an IBS cat cat reacts to. If your cat won't eat a food, it's possible its causing her to feel lousy so she avoids it. Can you find some low carb venison, rabbit, lamb, or pork. They tend to be proteins that are not typically in most cats' diets.

Another novel protein alternative is a raw diet. It's the same novel proteins, just not canned food. There are many canned foods that contain gums (e.g., guar cum) or carrageenan. These can also cause GI problems. If you opt for a raw diet, there are some commercially prepared raw or freeze dried options. If you choose to make your own, there are pre-mixes that you add to the raw food to make it nutritionally complete. I use EZComplete from FoodFurLife for my kitties.

I want to go raw but I am so overwhelmed with what meats to use. I'm boiling an Aldi chicken breast right now. I hope that's okay, but it sounds like it's not. I'm trying to do this very gradually, but Mouse knows what is in her food. Psyllium husks? Nope. Slippery elm? Nope. Miralax? Nope. I am so lost. I can't even go to the store because I have no idea what to buy. I've researched high and low.

I'm boiling some now. But, I know Mouse will turn her nose up. I've run out of choices for her.

Im sorry you and your kitties are going through this :bighug:. Ive gone through the upsetting process of dealing with two cats with anorexia and its horrible.
I can only offer what helped for Two of my cats: the first cat ( not diabetic ) churru lickable treats from inaba worked well. There is also an rx appetite stimulant variety. For my diabetic Lando, cerenia was a life saver. He displayed signs of nausea ( pica, acting hungry then walking from the bowl). A combo of cerenia and feeding tiny meals throughout the day ( on dry food (dr e) have kept him on a month or so long eating streak.
Sending you encouragement and best wishes! Oh! Also for some reason freeze dried chx was better received than cooked in my house ( pure bites)

It's hard for me to source a range of novel proteins. I can usually find ground pork or ground lamb. (One of my cats doesn't like ground lamb but it's relatively easy to find at a supermarket.) Lately, I've been able to get venison. My IBS kitty will tolerate bison but I don't use it often. They also get ZiwiPeak venison or rabbit and lamb. The ZiwiPeak doesn't contain gums or carrageenan. It does have green-lipped mussels so if your cat is sensitive to fish or seafood, it may not be a good choice.

The best way to figure out what your cat can tolerate is to try something different and see what happens. I had been feeding my cats a diet of either chicken or turkey for most of their lives. Then one of my cats developed IBS. I switched both cats to a totally different diet. No more diarrhea or vomiting!

Mouse and Lulu have been on Earthborn Holistics for years. But, I realize the carbs are too high and they shouldn't eat fish every day. Mouse has UTI issues as well. Neither are diabetic. Neither has diarrhea. The opposite seems to be an issue since messing with their food.

Kahlua is diabetic and has chronic loose poops. She only gets turkey and beef. Ive tried everything as far as supplements for her.

I'd love everyone to eat the same food. It would solve the vomit eating issue with Kahlua. And maybe, on raw, they wouldn't vomit.

My cat Beni who's going on 19 eats Weruva Mideast Feast which he absolutely loves; Dusty loved it too which was great having them both on the same food. On the rare occasion that Beni doesn't feel like eating I chop up a little Spam, the low sodium type, heat it up for 5 seconds in the microwave and he'll suck it up! After that his appetite is opened up and will eat his normal food. Spam does contain one gram of sugar and one gram of carbs so not sure how that would affect a sugar cat.
