Can a cat become hypoglycemic- OTJ??? Tubz has been OTJ for 15 days now. His numbers have been in the mid 70's on my at home relion micro home testing meter. Today his number was 52 on my meter (I should also mention that this test was done 4 hours after his morning meal). I know they say a hypoglycemic event can happen below 40 on your at home meter. Can a cat have too low of blood sugar naturally? I know humans can.

Side note: nothing has changed in his daily routine except I have started him on Zobaline 3mg once daily. I think it might be upsetting his stomach a little. BC he doesn't seem to be eating as much as normal and he threw up this morning. (almost 18 hours after the pill was given yesterday though). I gave it to him again today and if it continuous to upset his stomach I will stop the pill and see if he returns to normal. Anyone else heard of this being an issue?

Thanks

Break open the champagne ... that is a perfectly normal, non diabetic BG! :-D

Other than rare conditions (very rare!), you can't hypo if you're not on insulin. So continue doing exactly what you're doing, and do the dance the joy.

Congrats!!

PHEW!!! Thanks...This is the lowest number I have seen so I was worried. :-D

Remember meters test within 20% of what a lab would get.

And off of insulin, numbers in the 30s can be normal for some cats who have no other medical conditions.
