Luckily I haven't had to post on here for a long time, but I need some advice.

Peaches has been stable on 1 u Lantus twice a day, with green sugars, not too many yellows. (Sorry never posted a SS)

Last night before she was due for her evening dose, she started acting funny, howling, walking in circles, wobbly etc....classic hypo. SHE WAS 29!!!!!!!!! I gave her corn syrup, she ate some high carb food, threw up, so we did it again. I skipped her insulin of course and her BG came up. Now this morning it's 440! I know that's from the corn syrup and HC food.

Do I give her her regular 1 unit? Do I increase it for this one time to get her out of red?

Actually your post on Health will get more lookers than this group. You could also put the 911 icon on it to alert people to it. There are more eyes on the Tight Regulation lantus group

DO NOT INCREASE. A Hypo event means that she is getting TOO much insulin and needs a decrease. Lantus is a depot insulin - increasing to get her out of the reds will send her back to hypo.

No do not increase her insulin, that is whats called a bounce. Its a natural reaction from going so low on the hypo. I usually do not like to give any dosing advice but since no one else is on like I said do not increase.
Like Robin said most likely she will need a decrease in dosage.

Hello, Terri asked people from the Tight Regulation forum to pop over. Good job handling that low number.

Peaches has earned a dose reduction to .75U. Kitties who hypo can be sensitive to insulin so ignore the high numbers for now. Peaches is also bouncing in reaction to the low number. Bounces can take up to six cycles to resolve.
