Hyperthyroidism diagnosis

Madame sassy britches has been a bit finicky with her food lately. She eats, but requires coaxing. So we went to the vet for a checkup and some bloodwork. Her thyroid number is 6.9. So... meds.....Any advice? The vet didn't seem panicky or anything but in reading some of these posts, it sounds like a really bad thing. Trying not to start freaking out!

I recommend joining the Facebook group Hyperthyroid Cats (lots of good information there).

Hi Maria. I just had, about 4 weeks ago, a cat go through the I-131 radioactive iodine treatment for hyperthyroidism. His T4 was 15.4. He is doing great now. Friday he goes back for his 1 month bloodwork.

I definitely would recommend joining the groups.io group for Feline Thyroid Management. They can help you a lot, even with Methimazole dosing.
