I dont see alot about Novulin N I keep reading how it is the same and the price is really low and you dont need a prescription is it really the same cause $110 is alot to pay a month for insulin if i can get it cheaper. Just asking, my cat is on Humulin N right now. Any thoughts?

Welcome!

Humulin N and Novalin N is the same insulin but different manufacturers. Walmart has a contract with Novalin to allow them to sell it cheaper. 2 years ago, the contract was with the Humulin maker - their $24 insulin was Humulin N.

HUGS!!!

These three insulins offer the best chance for regulation and possibly remission : Lantus, Levemir and ProZinc. There are in the $100 range but they usually last up to 6 months, not just one. Humulin tends to have a fast harsh onset and not last the full 12 hour cycle.

It probably is a case of you get what you pay for.

We do not recommend the N type insulins.

They drop the cat very fast and wear off very fast.

It can wear off in 6-8 hours, which may require 3 times a day dosing for optimal glucose control.

You need to wait an hour after testing and feeding before shooting.

The nadir, lowest glucose between shots is around +3 to +4 hours after injection.
