Why would my cat seemingly be getting more hungry as her glucose levels come under control?
She was diagnosed 6 weeks ago and at that time was underweight despite being ravenously hungry.
At the start of insulin treatment I noticed her hunger was better controlled when her glucose reading was low, which is to be expected.
However, 6 weeks on we have much better glucose results overall but I've noticed she is begging like crazy for more food lately, specifically the last few days. I'm beginning to wonder if she is just messing with me or if she is genuinely hungry because she gets more than enough food to help her gain weight. So far she has gained around 350g.
I don't free feed but I give her a big meal at insulin time and another +-3 smaller portions throughout the cycle. All in all the caloric amount per 24 hours is just a tad more than the requirement for her present weight.
Ketones are normal at 0.1 so no problems there, she also doesn't drink any water (wet food seems to be enough hydration for her)
