How to put on weight

What do you recommend to help my cat put on weight? My vet suggested the dry Purina Pro DM - just 1/4 cup a day but I dont think dry food is the best option, even if it's DM.

How often are you feeding?
Do you have a spreadsheet? We need to see data to help you. It may be that the BGs Re still high and he isn’t absorbing all the nutrients in the food. But we can’t tell unless we see the data

Copying and pasting my comment from your other thread: You need to monitor the calorie intake if you’re trying to get him to gain weight. It should be roughly x20 times ideal weight so if that’s 11 pounds, he should be eating at least 220 calories a day, more to gain.

you can also try kitten food which can be more caloric

kitten food

Our Andy went missing for 88 days and lost 1/3 of his body weight. I'm not sure about the carbs but kitten food took him back to within a gram of his previous and ideal weight.

I agree with the kitten food idea and I'm glad it worked for your Andy. The only downside is that it typically has a lot more phosphorous which isn't good for cats with kidney disease. My cat has early stage so a few cans of kitten food once in awhile wouldn't hurt.
