To put it short, I want to restart making raw food, and I want it to have the best taste and best nutrition.
Hi all, in 2020 I start to make raw food using Lisa Pierson's recipe with the modification of replacing bones with egg shell powder, as that time Fafa had mild CKD and I was told egg shell powder has enough calcium and less phosphorus. Within 2 months Fafa's bloodwork gives very good value so she did not identify with CKD anymore.
In 2021, my family reported that the cats do not have a good appetite to eat raw food, they think it is because the smell of eggshell powder is strong. (I doubt that I think it is because of many factors) Then they switch back to the combination of canned food+cooked chicken thigh. (I should not let that happen but the stress of life made me not have the energy to deal with that)
So now, the bloodwork of last week shows that Fafa has mild CKD and hyperthyroidism, and Tiger has mild CKD, I want to restart making raw food, and I want it to have the best taste and best nutrition. I wonder if Lisa Pierson's recipe is not the best because it does not seem attractive enough for cats, and her posts are old which may mean there may be some better way now. So I may want some new recipes.
The taste (or smell) is very important because I need to stimulate their appetite to ensure their food intake and at the same time protect them from CKD. (it seems that food doesn't do much with hyperthyroidism, is it? Fafa is going to start her treatment of hyperthyroidism, I prefer to switch food first and then start treatment)
How to do that? Or is there any recommended information source for that? I browsed several Facebook groups and websites but I am not sure if I am finding the best info.
