How much to feed?

I’m just getting started with feeding my newly diagnosed 13 year old cat Fancy Feast pate canned food. He’s 11 1/2 pounds. How much should I feed him at each meal 2x/day?
 
Right now you will probably need to feed him at least 3-4 cans a day. Until his glucose levels get under control, his body is not processing food properly and he will be very hungry.

It doesn't look like you are home testing yet. This would be a great time to start. Then you will be able to see how well the diet change is working and know what his levels are before starting insulin.
 
I planned on starting home testing but the glucometer (ReliOn Premier)I just bought at Walmart needs the control test to be done and I had to order the solution by phone. I thought I could just buy a small bottle of this at the store but it is not stocked at Walmart because it expires so quickly they only send it to you in the mail with a 7 to 14 day delivery timeKitty does not seem so hungry, only eats about 11/2 can of the pate per day. At breakfast time he wolfs it down.
 
You don’t have to use the control solution to use the meter. It’s jus to double check it, but you can check your own blood and see if you are in a normal range and that will check as well as anything!
