How much to feed?

Since my cats are all on canned food only now, I'm wondering how much food is enough. The Fancy Feast cans are small and I'm wondering if 1-1/2 or 2 cans is right for a 10 to 12 pound cat?

Life was so much easier with dry food, I wasn't getting woke up at 6:00 am to cats crying "I'm hungry, get up and feed me!"

It depends somewhat on which flavor you're feeding. Winnie is around 10-11 pounds and 2 cans of the classic chicken (~180 calories) per day maintains her weight.

Here's the food chart so you can see what calories you're feeding: http://www.catinfo.org/docs/FoodChartPublic9-22-12.pdf
There might be a more recently updated one out there, but that's the one I use.

I definitely sympathize on the early wake-ups. What helped me was getting an autofeeder and setting it for a midnight snack. I still get gently reminded of breakfast time with paws on my face, but it's much closer to my alarm time than it used to be :)
It might be harder with multiple cats, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

There is an auto feeder for canned food?
Yes! I've had great luck with this 5 meal feeder: https://www.amazon.com/PetSafe-5-Meal-Automatic-Pet-Feeder/dp/B000GEWHNS?tag=felinediabetesfdmb-20

There's space for an ice pack underneath the tray, so you can keep food cold if you need to leave it out for a while. Lots of people here make "catsicles" by adding water to wet food and freezing it if they need to leave food out for a long time before the meal (i.e. long days at work).
It took a few days for Winnie to figure out that the weird mechanical sound meant food time, but now she'll sprint from any room in the house if she hears it.

Excellent for one cat. It wouldn't work for me right now with 4 cats, especially with my old boy so finicky, but after he is gone, I can see a plan developing. Thank you for letting me know. You can learn so much from this forum!

I recently got the SureFeed Microchip feeder after reading about it on one of the forums here. I love it. It's expensive, but has been worth it for me. I put extra wet food in the dish before I go to work and in the evening. I like that it stays covered; it seems to stay fresh all day. Bunny nibbles all day long and isn't *quite* so demanding in the morning. It also keeps my other cat out so I know only Bunny is getting the extra food. I ended up getting one for my other cat, too, but could have easily gotten by with just one.
