How much Prozac (fluoxetine) to give??

I've decided to give this a try w/Dante, to see if it helps make him NOT want to attack Bonsai.

We would really like to keep him around!!

I do know that it takes a week or two, to build up in their system. Is the dose based on weight, or just a kitty thing in general??

And does it affect their BG?

It shouldn't effect BG. Didn't the vet give you a recommended dose? What is the tablet you have? Usually, the dose is 1/4 to 1/2 of a 10 mg tablet once a day.

The vet should have prescribed a dose. We've have Mittens on a pretty varied dose as we try to find the right balance of side effect/usefulness so I don't think it is necessarily based on weight but I am sure there is a max for a cats weight. Our current dose is 2.5mg and he is a 12lb cat, but it is after a lot of ups and downs. Its not at the best for controlling his problems, but he also tends to sleep to much on it so we find a balance.

He hasn't been seen by this particular vet, but she said she would give me some.
