I feed Bugs FF 3-4 times a day, he acts like he is always hungry and is. His BG is really high could this be the reason and if so what could I give him in between his normal 2x a day feeding?

Yes if his BGs are high then he will be ravenous because insulin is the key that unlocks the door to the cells of the body so he can use the food he is eating. Without enough insulin his body can't properly use what he is eating.

My entire gang of 14 which includes 2 diabetics eats 4 times a day, or basically every 6 hours. I basically feed them breakfast, lunch, dinner and a before bed snack. The before bed snack goes down at 10pm but is put down frozen so they can nibble on it as it thaws.

Although when I first adopted my two diabetics as diabetics I free fed them Friskies Pates, I would just put 1/2 a can mixed with water in their bowl and when it was empty refill it, making sure to pick up any that was left 2 hours before their preshot tests so I could get a true reading that wasn't food influenced.

Sneakers ate 18-20 ounces at first she was so hungry. Their bodies cannot process the food very well without insulin. Once you get the numbers down to more regulated ones the starving cat syndrome will ease up as the insulin is working and doing one of it's (many) job (s).

Sneakers only eats 6-8 ounces a day now- if that gives you any hope. :-D

you may want to give more food at each feeding time to help the hunger problem. to give more perspective - when Maui was first diagnosed and starting insulin she could eat 2-3 cans of fancy feast for each meal 2-3 times a day.

now that she is off insulin and regulated, she typically eats about 1-2 cans of fancy feast each day.

so with regulation you will probably find that his needs will diminish.

He is getting 3 units of Lantus a day, and is ALWAYS hungry he then sometimes gets the runny poops. My vet wants him back on DM dry I just don't know what to do. His BG at 6 hours before shot was 348. It goes up and down but has not gone below 200 what do I do? plz help....

Bugs will only eat 1- 1/2 cans of FF at breakfast and than be hungry 4 hours later and eat 1 can every 4-6 hours.

DM Dry food is too high in carbs for a diabetic kitty, I know some folks use canned pumpkin or unsweetened yogurt to help with the runny poop. You can also use a probiotic like Fortaflora
