I know it takes a great days for Lantus to build in your system. With that being said, I understand that after being at a certain dose for a little bit my cat may get better numbers.

I'm not expecting better numbers right off, I just started and I'm at a low dose anyways.

My question is once I can start adjusting his dose how long dose it take usually too see a difference? Basically, I'm curious if his numbers will improve fairly quickly or will it be a few days before the adjustment takes off?

Is there a "lag time" between doses. Prozinc adjustments happen pretty instantly, but I know Lantus is the depo drug and didn't know if it requires more time.
 
We have a very popular saying here -- ECID (every cat is different) -- and it applies with your kitty in the situation you're describing.

Theoretically, when starting with a depot insulin, it can take 5 - 7 days for the depot to form and stabilize. Once you're past the initial period, it can take approximately 3 days for a cat to respond to a dose adjustment. This is a bit more variable and at least to my eyes, it may take a cycle or two for the dose change to be noticed. For example, depending on how much you're reading other condos, you may see a cat drop into dose reduction territory, a reduction is taken, and then during the next cycle or two the cat drops back into reduction territory. Often the caregiver's immediate reaction is to give a second reduction. Someone would likely comment that the dose shouldn't be reduced a second time since this is likely carryover due to the depot being "too full."

I would suggest you think about which approach to dosing you want to follow. You're testing enough to follow Tight Regulation. However, TR will require that you feed your kitty a canned food diet only. Is it possible to get the YAZ out of your cat's diet?
 
I think it will be in the future. I want to finish the bag I have, it's not that much, but since I feed so little it will take longer.

The dry food stays in the system longer and complicates TR, correct?

This is the first time I've heard that about testing and I think once I get the hang of it I probably will switch.

I will admit, it's hard for me to stick to a dose for so long when I feel it's not enough, but I will stick by the rules.
