How long for noticeable improvements?

Prior to our diagnosis, Shenandoah's coat was oily and rough.
I would swear that now her fur feels softer and looks shinier.
Is this possible?? We just started insulin Wednesday evening, and have only been eating the new diet since yesterday morning.
Can changes happen that quickly??

There also seem to be behavior improvements. She's even playing with her brother a bit now, which she hasn't really done in a while.

But I'm also afraid I'm just deluding myself because I want to see changes, and so might be seeing ghosts. Is it even physiologically possible for anything noticeable to happen this quickly?

It's a little too soon for major changes, but yes...it's definitely possible you're seeing improvements already!!

It was only a week or two from when we first started that I caught China grooming herself and realized how long it had been since I'd seen her do it!! Her coat had been a total mess so I knew when I saw her groom that we were making progress!!

Pictures are worth 1000 words though, so here's some "encouragement" for you to keep going!
China before diagnosis.jpg China at diagnosis...less than 8lbs (click to expand picture)
China after 4 months insulin therapy_zpsf9fd87af.jpg China about 4 months later....about 13lbs

You can REALLY see the difference in her coat!

I saw a big improvement in Squallie's coat, too, almost as soon as he started insulin. He also became much more playful after a couple of weeks (I had attributed his disinterest in play as a function of his senior years - boy, was I wrong!).
