911 How Long Does It Take to Recover From Tooth Extraction

This morning I found Walker sleeping/hiding in a cupboard. I took him to the vet and the vet said he had 2 really bad teeth that needed to be pulled. I told him to go ahead and pull the teeth. I brought him home a few hours ago and he is still hiding in the closet. I am so worried about him. His eyes are all kind of cross eyed from the meds and his bg is 464. I need to give him insulin but he does not seem interested in food. Any advice? I am so worried about him!

Do you have any "meat only" baby food? That's what most of us have around after a dental because it's easy to lap up and easy to digest

You could also try adding some warm water to canned food to make it easier to lap up if he's in pain

Did they do a complete dental or just pull those 2 teeth? Was he put under anesthesia? (which would have meant no food/water for 6-8 hours at least)

When my girl had her dental done she was very lethargic once home from the combination of anaesthetic and pain meds. Do you know what meds were given for pain and when? Do you have any pain meds to give for the next few days? As for the eating, you may need to blend some food down to make a kitty soup and see if he will lap that up or maybe some plain meat baby food without any onions or garlic in it. His mouth is probably sore.
Initially my girl was reluctant to eat but she is a kibble addict and won't touch wet food. She would check her dish and then walk away so I timed her pain med so she got it 30-45 minutes before meals to ensure she was comfortable eating.

The insulin will start making the glucose in the blood available to the cells for energy. As the glucose then lowers, he should start feeling hungry again. Do check in 2-3 hours to see how much it has dropped.
