How long does high carb food last in a cat's system?

I occasionally give Snickers an allergy pill, as needed, and use a high carb treat to trick her into eating it. I want to stress that this is the only time she gets anything high carb. She only eats low or no carb wet food and treats normally.

I am trying to find a low/no carb treat to use with the allergy pill but so far have failed to find one that she likes. In the meantime, how long does it take for an HC treat to leave a cat's system? The treats are similar to Pill Pockets, and she gets about one to two jelly beans' worth on a pill day (maybe once a week, sometimes not at all, sometimes more). Is it terrible to just give her the HC treat with this pill?

Also, I'm open to ideas for pill treats, as long as they don't have poultry. She's allergic to poultry. Also, she has almost no teeth, so something easily chewable or that I can mash up is best.

Do you pill her and give the treat after or do you put the pill in the treat like in a pill pocket?
I used to put the pill in her food and she'd just eat it, but not anymore. And I can't squeeze the pill into one of her normal freeze dried treats since it just crumbles. So I use a paste that I put around the pill. The paste is similar to a pill pocket, all mushy and soft with similar ingredients.

Can you pill Snickers? There are some allergy (or other pills) that are very bitter and will cause a cat to salivate excessively especially if they are chewing on the pill. Putting a pill in a blank capsule and pilling your cat may be an option.

Some people will put pills in a piece of cheese, a bit of deli meat, etc.

There's no exact way to know how long a cat will respond to something that's high in carbs. There are some cats that have a bump in their numbers if they eat a low carb treat! It's a matter of how sensitive the cat is to carbs. You can always get a test, give your cat the treats you've been using and get a couple of tests to see when number rise and for how long.

I can pill Snickers if I have to, but I don't like to because she gets all anxious and is sensitive in her backside. So I don't like to hold her down if I don't have to. I'm also so paranoid about making her choke.

The whole reason I started thinking about it is because I gave her an allergy pill/hc treat a few days ago, and noticed a spike in her BG a couple hours later. For some reason I haven't been noting when I give her the pill, and I began to wonder if it could account for some of the blue BGs she still gets sometimes. Seems silly to me now that I hadn't considered that before.

I should probably do what you suggested and note her BG more closely next time I give her one. See if there's a pattern. I'm also going to check out the cheese whiz Ale suggested. Though I wonder how much sodium is in spray cheese, lol. It'd only be once in a while though.
