I bought a contour test meter in 2008, and am just wondering how long these meters last. How often do you all replace your meters?

Thanks.

Meters are like any other electronic, gadget, appliance. They should last indefinitely but not always.

. You may want to contact the manufacturer and ask them, if you are experiencing problems they may replace it for you at no cost. Also remember to replace the battery.

i've been using my freestyle flash since 2006. i did switch off here and there and tried a couple other ones but didn't like them so switched back to old faithful. and when i'd try the other ones, it was only for a month or less for each i would say. my backup meter is a freestyle lite and it's a couple years old at least now. i have had to change the battery twice now in my flash.

I used my bayer ascencia elite xl for years (didn't test often as Squeak is off insulin) but had to replace it when they stopped making its strips and mine were waaayyy past expired

Great! Thanks for the replies. Mine seems to be working fine (except for one bad reading the other night) and I do have a backup. Just didn't know if they had a "shelf lilfe."

Cheers

My Aviva Accuchek started giving me errors every other test after about 7 or 8 months, and I called and the company replaced it for free. I've had my replacement since then (about a year and a half) and it's worked fine. I kept the first one on a shelf near my fridge, and the aviva person seemed to think that was the reason why it went wonky. I guess the fridge has a large electromagnetic field that can mess up aviva meters? I had no idea.

I still have Baby's(GA) original OTU but bought new ones for Hope, 9 years, and Mishka, 8 years. Mishka's has been used for almost 8 years, several times a day and other than new batteries it works beautifully. It is the original OTU, not the 2, not the mini.

I had a new AST meter and it ate batteries. I was sent a replacement free. I also had a Control meter and after a couple of years the little switch that turns the meter on when you inset a strip would not work all the time. I replaced it with a AST meter but could have gotten t replace free. This all besides the normal periodic battery replacements.
