I have two cats and leave out four bowls in different places. Because they always have food, they aren't food competitive, and both are healthy weights (now that they're on wet/raw only). It may take a little time to get them to calm down and not inhale all the food, but it's possible for most cats to adapt to free feeding. If you decide you want to try to re-train them, I'd be happy to help. But one thing at a time...first the testing and the spreadsheet.
