How do you tell if cat is in remission?

I think Precious is in remission and so does my vet. He’s been testing in the 110 - 140 levels since last Saturday. I know it’s probably too soon to declare him in full remission, so my question is,at what point do you know? When do you decrease testing? Is there anything I need to watch for when he’s in remission?

I’m thrilled that we’ve made it to this place but I’ve got as many questions about remission as I did when he was diagnosed.

BTW, I couldn’t have done this without this group and the Facebook page. You all kept me sane!,

If you go 14 days without needing to give insulin, it is considered remission. Those numbers look great considering they are with an AlphaTrak! Congratulations. I hope it keeps going.

I think I would continue to test a couple of times a day for at least the first 14 days. I would vary the times some though (if you can) rather than just testing at your previous shot times. Then, maybe go to once a day for awhile, eventually tapering off to once every couple days, few days, once a week, something like that. I would 'spot' check forever just to make sure things stay on track. These are just my thoughts on it... I'm sure there are other opinions.
