How do you know when nadir is on Lantus (when to test?)

I have been testing Noodle about 4-7 hours after his shots, on various days. What time is the best time to test to try to zero in on his nadir? I have read that nadir times may vary hugely from cat to cat so when should I test (other than running periodic curves)? This has me so confused :? Thanks.

I get random tests in whenever I can....once I had a good variety of tests in, I looked to see where I was lacking and spent time on the weekends trying to get those tests in....I find the late PM hours easiest to do on Friday and Saturday nights when I don't have to go to work the next day. I set about 3 alarms about 2 mintues apart around the time I want to test, so I can't miss it.

That is how we learned that Skooter likes to nadir early, around +4 or +5....though I have noticed it is changing as his dose goes down.

Lantus often has the nadir between +5 to +7 hours after the shot.

Random tests during that period throught the week can help you ID when your cat is likely to hit nadir, or you can do a curve by testing from pre-shot to pre-shot, every 2 hours. A min-curve is testing every 3 hours from pre-shot to pre-shot.

Some cats have variable nadirs, and nadirs can also change over time, as Molly is finding with Skooter. Just do your best to get some mid cycle tests in, and vary when you get those tests. A pattern will appear.
