How do you give your cat Miralax?

I used the powder and gave phoebe 1/8 of teaspoon mixed in her food 2x a day. ECID. I use pumpkin now, just pure pumpkin no spices or additives.

What is ECID?

Every Cat Is Different

Pumpkin can help with both constipation and diarrhea, but it takes a little longer to work and you have to hope your cat likes it (quite a few do!!)...and you want to use the plain pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling.

Most people just mix the Miralax with food since it's supposed to be tasteless, but you can also get an oral syringe, mix it will a little water and give it that way. Another important thing to know about Miralax is that it needs water to work, so the more water you can get into Chase, the better

Scant 1/8 teaspoon 2x/day. I divide it between his first three meals/snacks PS, +2.5 & +4.5.

Make sure you add water to the food. Miralax grass water from he body to help it work.

Both of my boys get 1/4 tsp twice a day sprinkled in their food. I also give Allen 1/4 tsp pumpkin twice a day mixed in his food.

I mix 1/8 tsp with water and syringe it in daily. It's not my sugar kitty, but her big brother, Sammy. He wouldn't eat pumpkin, and this seems to be working really well. I didn't know about Miralax needing water to work. Thanks for that info, Chris and Lizzie. Learn more every time I'm on here. I'll try to get more water into him.

Has he gone yet, Sandi? My daughter and her family just got home from an extended trip to find their Wampa constipated. The pet sitter (a friend) didn't let him drink from the faucet as Steph asked and she spent a long time massaging his rear last night in warm water to help him go. NOT her favorite thing to do, but he finally pooed. Don't know if that would help Chase or even if you would want to do it. Don't think she's asking this friend to pet sit again since their other kitty had blue marker on his face and the fish tank was only 1/3 full.

Anyway back to Chase, hope he has gone or goes quickly.

Oh nooooo... I just imagine the blue marker on the face. The sitter must have a young child?

I used to use Miralax. It doesn't need water to work, like the other products do. However... water is important for all of us... the more the better, for anything.

I can't track Chase's water consumption because he will ONLY drink from the faucet. I could put fresh water down every 15 minutes and he won't touch it. Silly kitties.

We have faucet drinkers also, but they will drink from a bowl when necessary. LOL Yep, two young boys that are kind of a handful. Anyway all is well that ends well.

So you give her pumpkin instead, now?
I used to give her miralax, it turned her poop blk and tarry. Tested it for blood. Nothing. So switched to pumpkin and she has great poops. Sometimes I have to split into all meals some days she'll eat it easier than others. Come on Chase give momma bean some poo.
