How common are inaccurate meter readings?

I'm using an AlphaTRAK. This morning I got a very unexpected 130 preshot value rather than the normal value in the 300s. So I didn't shoot and checked again in 45 minutes (at +12.5 hours) and got a 405. I gave her the normal dose then. The +2 reading was 333, so I assume the 130 was just an error? How common is that?? I don't know of anything unusual about the reading that might explain it. I have a hard enough time interpreting the data without thinking about measurement error.

I use the Relion meters and every once in a while I will get a reading that does not look right. If it is much lower than normal, I will usually test again to confirm it. Usually if there is an error, it is because I got too much blood on the strip or it has taken too long to sip it.

I get one rarely. I just retest at the time to convince myself if it is a meter or cat problem.

I've gotten two or three 'off' readings on my Contour...during which I've sipped too much blood, or two other times, just not enough. The meter usually gives me an error instead of a reading if this happens, but I watch the strip and have noticed it not taking enough/too much right before a wonky reading.

The other couple hundred readings have seemed fine.
