Quick question..... How do you know if your cat has gone into the "honeymoon" period and when should you stop giving insulin? My little boy has really good numbers on .5 units Lantus twice daily and Im wondering if I should stop the insulin and see if he might not need it right now. What do you all think.?

Maybe post that question in the Lantus forum and show your recent week of test numbers. You'll need test numbers at pre-shot or when you would normally shoot, plus mid-cycle tests in the +5 to +7 hours post insulin (if given) or between meals, to show that insulin isn't needed any more. The values for those tests should be less than 130 mg/dL on a human glucometer.

In the lower right corner of the screen, there is an arrow pointing diagonally up to the right. This is the Quick Navigation button. Hi Kristine. It appears this the last thread that you have posted. The previous post where you put numbers is at http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/feeding-christopher-canned-friskies.142166/. In the situation I am seeing, I also would be thinking honeymoon (especially with a 4 YO cat) and I would be thinking about cutting back on the dosage. In a situation where the cat is so young, hasn't been hyperglycemic too long, and has an at-home curve of 106/75/116/98/94/92., I wouldn't be shooting any or much insulin.
