Hi,
Just wanted to give everyone the heads up about Hocks. I have been ordering test strips from them since December. Since the ownership change, not only have they discontinued their commission to FDMB, and raised the prices on the test strips twice, now the latest is they refused to cancel my online order, 20 minutes after I placed it!

Tuesday night I placed an order. Then, after posting here, I learned of a cheaper online source. So, I sent an email to Hocks 20 minutes after placing my order. I didn't hear back from them, so yesterday morning I called and reiterated that I wanted to cancel my order. Today, I get the following email:

Thank you for your email. However, once your order is placed we can not cancel your order. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may of caused you.

Thank you for choosing Hocks.com

Can you believe that??? I am furious. That's $75 I could use elsewhere. Don't buy from Hocks!

First, call your credit card company and put the order in dispute. Let the big guns (i.e., a credit card company) deal with this.

I've not had problems with Hocks. They ship quickly and get it right. I did order a lot of strips from a seller on Amazon and they were a headache. One order or one seller can always get screwed up.

Unfortunately it's not uncommon for "bigger" companies to not be able to cancel an online order once it's been placed, although you'd think some would step up to the customer service plate and make the effort. With enough complaints, maybe they'll start learning.

I do find it very disappointing that they no longer support FDMB...

Bummer that you can't cancel the order, but at least you know the test strips won't go to waste, and you've got a new source for future orders.

Sienne, good idea to dispute it! I will have to refuse the order when it comes. I liked the company real well, too, until the recent changes. I believe it's due to policy changes by the new ownership. I won't do business with companies that treat their customers this way. Besides, I hear you can get them really cheap on ebay, so I'm going to try that next. Also, www.diabeticcare.com was $5.00 cheaper than Hocks (for 100 strips) plus had free shipping.

I don't order from Hocks anymore. I sent them an email expressing my disappointment that they discontinued the affiliate program with FDMB, and they sent me a prompt reply stating that it was the former owner's fault, we plan to reinstate it as soon as possible, blah, blah, blah. I voted with my feet....won't order until the affiliate program is back in place, as I informed them in my email...making excuses doesn't work with me.

I'm not surprised that they wouldn't do anything for you...sorry about that. I would dispute it and refuse the order if it won't cause you too much trouble.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a crusader when it's the principle of the thing....IMHO, they have no intention of reinstating the affiliate program, and as long it doesn't hurt their wallet, why would they? Not one thin dime of my money.....

I ordered syringes about a month ago from Hocks and also from American Diabetes Wholesale. The syringes (Monojects, 31 gauge, short needle) were much cheaper at ADW, but it wasn't clear from their website if that particular syringe had 1/2 unit markings. Hock's specified that it did. So I ordered 2 boxes from Hocks and 1 box (in addition to strips, etc.) from ADW. Both came 2 days after placing the order. They are the same syringe with the 1/2 unit markings.
I had always ordered from Hocks, but I was disappointed to learn that they had discontinued their commission to FDMB. The only reason I ordered the syringes from them is that I knew what I was getting. Now that I know what I am getting at ADW, I will only order from them (I always get my strips from them and they are very prompt and their prices are excellent).

I ordered two boxes (of the same syringes Ella uses) from Hocks about three weeks ago. They did not ship my order for 5 days and it took another 4 days to get to me. And they only included one box. I called them....got an answering machine. Left a message that they still owed me a box and two days later another box of syringes showed up. Wellll gosh....if they could get the second order there that fast, why not the first?

Then on May 27, I ordered three boxes of lancets and some clinistix. They did not ship the order until June 2. I know there was a holiday in there but they could have shipped on May 31. I just got the order yesterday....June 8th!! I doubt I will be ordering from them again which is disappointing because I like to order the boxes of 200 lancets/box, BD 30 gauge and ADW doesn't have the larger boxes.

I just ordered 200 lancets and a box of syringes from Hocks.

SIX DAYS later, an email came, saying they had not shipped my order yet, as they were out of stock of one of the items (didn't say which). I emailed them back to say that waiting SIX days to let me know they were unabe to ship diabetic supplies (that by definition, are needed "on-time") was unacceptable and if they we not able to confirm that whatever had gone wrong, was fixed, I would have to take my business elsewhere. A nice lady replied, saying that they are unable to verify on-line orders are in stock but if I would telephone my order instead, then they would be able to check if the items I want are in stock. Brilliant answer for an internet-based company!!! Next day an email arrived saying that they had shipped my order. The box arrived yesterday and we discovered that they had substituted a different brand of lancets (not the ones I had ordered).

I emailed them yesterday, to say "good-bye".

Just wanted to add a quick follow up.

I just received my order from Hocks of One Touch Ultra test strips (the order they wouldn't let me cancel--I had planned to refuse the package when it arrived and dispute the charges, but it arrived in a package with the new company name on it, which I didn't recognize, so I opened it). Anyway, the test strips are BAD! I tested like 5 strips, on two meters, and they are all below the control range on the bottles, even though the expiration date was 8/12. Sooooooooooooo, I tried to call Customer Service to report it and have them send me a replacement order, and guess what? They no longer have 24/7 phone support! Only Monday through Friday, and I was invited to leave a message. I'm almost positive the old company, Hocks, had 24/7 support.

So, I believe that they must have bought out the competition (Hocks), rather than compete with them based on quality of product and service. Sad.

I'd call the One Touch people. I think you'd have better luck getting a replacement AND if Hocks (or whatever their name is now) in some way mishandled the strips, they then have to deal with a corporate entity vs. a consumer.
