Hello, Mel and I are doing his curve today. Mel was at 273 am pre shot. Mel received 1 unit Prozinc and ate heartily. Two hours later Mel check in at 304. Is this normal after eating and Prozinc? Thanks, Merrie Guyton. Relative newbe https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/179x_hz-dlOoLxqzDPxp_PHc343UY5J18V2BGwxFjeCY
In my experience, it can take up to 3 hours for ProZinc to really start acting. So, there can be a bit of an increase in glucose within the first couple of hours, especially if the cat has eaten within that time. What do you feed him?
DM dry or DM SavorySelrct are higher in carbs than ideal for a diabetic cat. Maybe you can find something other than the DM, lower in carbs, that he would like. A lot of folks here feed FF and it looks like there is some roasted/flaked/chunky types under 10% carbs. HERE is a food list you can check for more options. I see you set up a spreadsheet for Mel but I can't see it. It looks like the share is not set up correctly. You need to set it so anyone with the link can view Mel's sheet.
There are a lot of good wet foods that are not pate. Tiki Cat and Weruva are good brands with a lot of very diabetic friendly options.
