I tested Malachi am preshot and his BG was 393. He ate and i gave him his shot. At +4 his BG was 546. He is on ProZinc. The other day i tested him @ +4 and his BG was at 193. I felt good about that. I know he is on to me with the ear pricks, will that shoot a result up like that? I am trying to get him on a 12 hour rotation for food but he usually has a couple snacks in between of his regular food. SO CONFUSED

I am hoping to get it started this weekend. I have had a crazy schedule at work and im not a computer person when i get home. I am running this BG curve for my vet by running home to test. My husband is scared to do it. The reason i wondered if it was stress spike. He is a.somewhat anxious boy amd i am new to testing. I was surprised with the 500 number and thought let me grab another drop of blood on a new strip. In the time it took me to change out the strip, it went 40 points higher.

Is it possible you gave a fur shot?

Is it possible that he got into contraband food?

The 12-hour feeding regimen is old school. Diabetic cats do better with meals at shot time and snacks throughout the cycle. Just pick up the food two hours before shot time so that the preshot test is not food influenced.

Without a spreadsheet, I can only guess what happened. One possibility is that he went lower than used to at some point, and is now bouncing.
