High numbers..still!!!!!!

Back again.....I'm going to post this in PZI as well. For a short period of time it seemed like we were making progress with Chocolate but now her numbers either barely drop or even get a little higher between shots. I've been feeding Wellness and Merrick low carb wets but she didn't seem to eat all the Wellness when it was out so I've been trying with the Merrick because she tends to eat all of it. I give her about 1/3 to 1/2 of a 5.5 oz can each feeding (4x a day) because ya'll have said when they're not regulated they should eat all they can because their bodies waste the food..(right?)...So anyway...now we're stuck here with these high numbers. Is a higher dose needed? Or could this be some sort of rebound? This is so frustrating!! I've also been testing for ketones almost daily so we're good in that department. Could the insulin be crapped out and I need a new bottle? Could where I'm shooting not be getting into her for some reason?

Christina,
How old is the insulin?
Where are you shooting?
I saw a recent discusion in PZI where some people switched injection sites and saw an immediate decrease in numbers. There might be something to that?
As for the food... yes, she should eat "more than normal" if she wants to, because she isn't getting all the benefit from food that a non-diabetic or controlled diabetic cat would at this point. You just want to try to not feed her an hour or two before Pre-shots so you aren't getting a false high reading caused by a glucose boost from her eating.

I answered on PZI. Seems to be general agreement that you have room to raise the dose but not by much.

Like Carl's questions and think the answers would be helpful to us.

The bottle expires in 2012 but the date printed on the label from the vet is from a year ago so we must have opened it last October. I was shooting in the scruff but googled other spots and will do the other spots suggested because I think she has scarring on the scruff or something b/c sometimes it's hard to get the needle into her skin so maybe that could have been affecting insulin absorption.
