Hi folks,
Nico's had some issues the past few weeks with higher AMPS and lower PMPS. With my work schedule it's extremely hard to get enough tests in, but I've really been trying to do more when I can.
I'm curious if this is just a natural occurrence, or I need to try and get more pm tests in to see if he's bouncing? I'm off this week so I will definitely have the ability to check. It's not major, but just enough to make me question.

Thoughts?

FYI he had a UTI a while back, so we're still supplementing with corn silk. He also has HBP but that is controlled with Amlodipine. We're also keeping an eye on kidney function, his SDMA was just one point over the limit. Test for ketones regularly, none detected.

You're doing a great job getting tests!

It is not all that unusual to see higher numbers at AMPS. In fact, these are often the last numbers to fall into line. The explanation is called "dawn phenomenon." All mammals have a naturally occurring physiological rhythm. With regard to blood glucose, the numbers rise in the early AM due to the body preparing for the stress of the day. As a result, the body releases corticosteroids (i.e., stress hormones). This causes a rise in BG numbers and you see a higher AMPS.

Thanks so much!! Nico is a real trooper, and I've gotten better/quicker at testing so that helps lol. I remember reading about the Dawn Phenomenon, it's just odd to see it in his numbers. I was thinking since I lowered his dose a tiny bit, that may be why I'm seeing it more pronounced now. Do you think I should bump up the AM dose to a full 0.25, or let it ride out as is and hopefully the AM numbers will fall back into line eventually?

I'm not that experienced with Prozinc. If it were me, I'd likely bump the dose to a full 0.25 but see if one of the Prozinc folks can confirm.
