Low carb options for concealing Pills. We have used pill pockets but they are high in carbs. Any other ideas of things kitties will eat up right away? I don’t think she will eat any kind of lunch meat/meat. Will have to be some kind of treat.

Soft cheese maybe? I gave up trying to hide whole pills. They are highly skilled at detecting a pill in anything! I have to either pulverize the pill, sprinkle it on top of wet food, then sprinkle forti flora over it. That or get out the pill gun and prepare for a battle of getting it down without it ending up in his fur.

I use a miniscule portion of a pill pocket to "glue" a pill to an Orijen treat; he eats it every time. When I first started doing that I gave hiom a couple of 'unmedicated" treats before and after the pilled one, so to him it was just another treat.

i couldn't fool my cats hiding pills most of the time so i just cut and put pills in empty capsules, rub soft butter on capsule, stick it in pusher and walk behind cats and put pusher into side of mouth (sometimes as we are still walking) and poof capsules go right in & down without a fight, even the feral cat didn't mind!! butter makes capsule slide right down their throat and since cats like the butter they do seem to not mind when i first put pusher into their mouth and they taste the butter..

Depending on the medication and how long he will be on it, you may want to talk to a compounding pharmacy to see if they can turn it into a cat treat. I had to do that years ago with Clyde's heart medication and it was a lot less stressful for both of us.

I use the compounding pet pharmacies all the time. I don't know how I functioned years ago when they weren't around. Best thing that ever happened for pet medications.

They can also do alot of medications as gel to rub in ear.

With my diabetic I continued to use the pill pockets as he just got one a day. Didn’t affect his numbers at all. With my civvie - no chance hiding it in food or pill pocket so have to open her mouth and pop it right in. Holding her head back so she has to swallow. Gone down the hatch in seconds.
