So I'm wondering how bad this is......Hidey has become addicted to treats. Granted they're freeze dried, chicken, beef, salmon. His new favorites are the Orijen Alberta wild boar. When ever I test him I end up giving him about 4 treats. The past couple days I've been testing about every 2 hours since we are new to this and trying to get the under control. I've just been keeping my kit on the coffee table in the leaving room along with the treats. He jumped on the table, smelled the bag of treats, then went and knocked the lancet pen off the table, jumped down, sat next to it, and started to stare at me. Its only been an hour since his last test lol I still tested him because I think its good he's getting used to this but I have this feeling I'm being played for the fool lol

Look on the bright side, Hidey clearly doesn't dread testing and sees it as something to look forward to!

I think that is probably a good thing. I used to have to chase my cat down from under the bed and everything else and she had no interest in treats or anything.
So I don`t think those are bad for him and he seems very happy to be tested.

My non-diabetic, Henry, is also addicted to treats. When he hears me popping open the test strips bottle, he comes running because he knows it means treat time. ohmygod_smile Since it's pure protein, I just look at it like a kid loving vegetables more than ice cream.

The treats were the secret to us become successful home testers, too. :-D I don't know if it really matters to the cats, but Eddie is the ONLY one who get the "special" protein-only (Pure-bites) treats, so they are REALLY extra special, exclusive treats.

I stopped giving Tiggy treats for testing cos he would be uncontrollable and crazy wanting the treats and testing was a nightmare as he wouldn't stay still. So now he just gets ear rubs after which he likes. Not all treats need to be food i guess.
