Hi! My 8 y/o kitty was just diagnosed and I'm trying to figure out what the heck size needle and syringe!

What is the name of the insulin?

If it's Lantus (glargine) or other U100 insulin, you need to use U100 insulin syringes. The ones you want are 3/10 cc with half unit markings. Needle length and gauge is preference. 31 gauge 5/16 inch is popular for cats.

If you have ProZinc or other U40 insulin, you need to use U40 insulin syringes. You can also get these as 3/10 cc with half unit markings. I think 29 gauge 1/2 inch needles are the only option. Technically there's a way to use U100 syringes with U40 insulin but there's a conversion that needs to be done and it's not advised for newbies to attempt that until they are more experienced.

What other questions do you have? FDMB has lots of info to help newbies :)
