Hi, I was given 29 gauge .5cc instead of .3cc syringes. Am I measuring the same insulin?

Yes if you are using the same insulin.
Do the syringes match your insulin?
Vetsulin and Prozinc are insulins for animal are U40 (40 units per ml) insulins. U40 syringes have red needle caps.
Common human insulins used for cats are Lantus/glargine, Levemir and N and are U100 (100 units per ml) strength abd U100 syringes have orange needlke caps.

0.5 cc syringes are only marked every 1 uni while 0.3 cc syringes can be marked either every 1 unit or every ½ unit.
syringes with ½ unit marking are preferred since with them you can eyeball ¼ unit increments. Many cats do better with finer doses than every 1 or ½ unit.

Thank you so much for your reply. It is a great explanation...better than any one I received from the " professionals " I asked.
