Hi,

My name is Patti and I found out on Feb 8th that my 13 year old cat Sammy has diabetes. I am in the process of giving him insulin and have him on a low carb diet. I found the website and help group DCIN (Diabetic Cats In Need). I don't think I could afford to manage his help without this group.

I look forward to hearing from people and getting help on this journey.

Regards,

Patti

Welcome Patti to FDMB. This is the right place to learn about feline diabetes and treatment. I'm glad you have been in contact and receive help from DCIN, it is a wonderful organization! We also may be able to offer additional ideas to save some $$ so that you have fewer worries treating your cat.
First, will you please create your signature and add any information you care to share in your profile. It's ok to include your first name and a geographic location in the signature, so people know what to call you and know where you are. Sometimes knowing the time zone is helpful when giving information or advice.
Here's a link on the signature and profile: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/editing-your-signature-profile-and-preferences.130340/
You don't mention if you are home testing, and I do want to tell you that it's one of the best tools you have to keep kitty safe and see how the insulin is affecting the blood sugar. Human diabetics do not "shoot blind", they test the blood sugar to see if it's safe to inject the insulin. Same principle applies to our sugar cats. We can help you learn to do that, and find low cost testing supplies.
You are already doing so well, finding this site and being in contact with DCIN. We will do all we can to help you learn more and become comfortable with the "sugar dance".
