Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't been around much this past week. Grandpa's results and the changes in perspective took some adjustment. I've started to take each day as a gift.

I'm happy to say that he is quite comfy next to me right now as I type this. He just finished a nighttime snack with gusto and is settled on the bed.

When we left the vet last Tuesday, we were presented with a dire picture. The vets and techs have shifted into futility mode. I almost followed, but when I stopped prematurely mourning him, I realized he is very much still here. He plays with the laser light, he has started eating again now that we've loosened up the restrictions on when he can eat. He's almost always in the middle of whatever is happening.

He's lost weight, which is hard to see. His appetite was poor for several days. He's started eating again, though, so we'll take advantage of that. He hasn't vomited since coming home from the hospital last Tuesday. He has been very jaundiced, what the vets call a yellow kitty. It was shocking at first. He is still jaundiced, but my roommate and I swear he is less yellow. Wishful thinking, maybe, but we're determined to concentrate on living rather than dying while he is still here.

So, thanks for those who have touched base and showed such compassion. Grandpa and I are still here and we appreciate you all very much!

Oh, I'm so glad you posted and I loved reading. I think you have the right attitude and that of course enhances whatever time you have with Grandpa, which is unknowable. He looks happy, you take such good care of him and he knows he's loved. Hugs to both of you.

Each day truly is a gift with these furry babies. Our lives are better for having had them in it.

Oh Beck, I am sooooo glad to read this. I think about you and Grandpa often. I'm glad you are trying (and succeeding) to enjoy every day. We should all do that. Thank you for sharing, for the inspiration and for the care you give that "sweet, funny old cat". I love you for it.
