Sue and Oliver invited me over here with all the PZI sugar babies. I am looking forward to feedback and advice with dosing. But, now I have a new problem. This morning, he isn't gobbling down his food like he used to. He ate about an ounce and left the table. So, I sprinkled flortiflora on it, and magic. Tonight, the same thing, except he ate even less. How little food can they eat to shoot? It's his PMPS time? I am going to post in Health also for a quick response.

ProZinc doesn't hit very quickly, so nibbling is OK. As the insulin drops his glucose, he'll likely nibble more.

Are you seeing any signs of GI distress? Lip smacking? Crouching hunched over? Pulling away if you palpate the belly? Vomiting? Diarrhea?

Hi Bobbi,

Glad you got here. I'm with BJ - if he is nibbling, I'd go ahead and shoot. He may have a hairball or just be off a bit. Or he has decided he is not as happy with this flavor as he was yesterday....

Be sure to check out other's spreadsheets and threads when you have time. There are a number of beans here about the same time frame as you and Bubba, in terms of diagnosis and insulin dose.

No none of the above. He is just quieter today. They only thing different is I fed him a snack at 1.30 am after I checked his BG. Then this am he wasn't that interested. There was nothing in the box either. He did go out for 2 1/2 hours after his amps, so he probably did his business outside. He has been since 8:30 am and nothing in the box.

okay, will do. I will go with yours and BJM advice to shoot.

If he isn't showing any signs of distress, I agree with Sue. Might just be feeling a little bit off or not as happy with the flavor. Mine go through periods where they won't eat at first when I put down food but they come back and get it later.

Welcome Bobbie and Bubba!

At the times Merlin isn't too hungry or isn't taking any interest in his food and if I can get at least a tablespoon in him, I am happy and will shoot. Do you add water to your wet food so it is a little gravy like?

Hi Rachel, he isn't showing any signs of distress, just not real active today. Only wanted to be outside for 2 1/2 hours today and was inside in the basement all day until 7:45 pm. Just got him back in at 9:30 pm EST and he did go and finish almost all of his dinner. It just isn't him to not eat everything and quickly. I know now I am more focused on his eating because of the insulin. Diabetes has a way of making us beans "hyper -vigilant" And I do add water to make it gravy-like. Thanks for your post.

Hey Cindi, yes I do add some water to his food to make it gravy like and to give him more water. In the last week, he has slowed up with his water intake. Glad that he went back to his food hours later. Glad to know that as little as a TBSP, you will shoot. I just have never had this problem before with my hog/cat. And I call him that lovingly.
