Doug found a local pharmacy who agreed to sell us a pack of 10 u100 syringes until our arrive in the next couple of days. (They wouldn't break open the pack and they charged more than our vet, but at least we got them.) So nice not to have to eyeball the dose!

Gave .8 this morning... +6 was 210 and +9 was 189... hmm...so, lowest can be +9? Guess that means continue same dose for several days, then need to do another curve to make sure we're getting nadir? Yippee for a blue number and for him being more alert and interactive!

Enjoying the small victories :-D (Working on the Profile, so if you view it, be forewarned it's a mess. Our screen didn't look like the example, but I'll get it...eventually ;-) )

It's possible the +9 was upward from the 7 or 8 low point, but it sure gives a good idea the dose seems to be working. :smile:

And, yes, sticking with the same dose for a few days gives you a better idea of how it's working and where to go from there...unless the numbers drop too low then reduce. :smile:

The lowest reading can be +9, but I would suspect that your nadir (lowest reading) was between +6 and +9. It is very possible, that the +9 could be a rising number from your +7 or +8. Truly, we don't know---but, it is possible.

I know you are in the Raleigh area....I just purchased U100 syringes from a local pharmacy in Raleigh with no issues. The syringes were behind the counter, but I did not need a script and I had no issues.

Kim - Doug said they looked him over before selling them to him and said he didn't look like he was going to do any illegal drugs with them. oh, please -
 
I walked into SAMs Club last Sat & got a box of U-100 no problem.
I guess it's all where you go to buy them.

Glad to see Hershey is doing well. cat_pet_icon

Thanks for the encouragement!! I guess we should keep this dose for a few days and then do another curve to find when the nadir occurs and how low? Is it always the same time or would that be too much to ask? ;-) Doug is off Mon - Wed, but Wed may be too soon. We could do a mini curve Thurs or Fri, would that be better?

Hershey is growing less fond of this ear prick thing, treat or no treat. *sigh* I think it's partially because his ears aren't warm enough, so guess we need to try more than just rubbing them to heat them up?

Poopy's nadir still moves around. Sorry. Although ECID so you may get lucky. :-D

Poopy goes through mini phases. Most of the time he purrs through it...occasionally he...well...not actually bites me, more like places his teeth on me as if he would bite but doesn't (he also does this during our play, so it's not something new or alarming). I take it as a cat thing. You know they'd rather be doing what they want when they want, right? Sometimes test time interrupts what they want to be doing. :lol:

Warming the ears more can't hurt. :-D
 
Starting at ~PM +3.5 Hershey was less responsive and seemed to just want to sleep. Fed at PM +6 without walking, just in case he was wanting to sleep due to lower BG. Doug wasn't home to test and I didn't want to do it the first time without him, if I could help it. (I don't plan on letting him leave again without me knowing how!)

421 at PM +10 :YMSIGH: Well, there goes that yippee... Of course, since I didn't test him, don't know if he was less responsive because of low numbers or high. Add more guilt...
 
It is not uncommon for BGs to bounce upward after a nice dip...that's why it's called a bounce. :-D

Do not raise the dose due to a bounce. Hershey will adjust through it. (Only change a dose to lower it, if needed due to low numbers.) And it could take a few days to clear.

When our kitties are used to running high and then we finally see a "nice" number, the liver isn't used to such a low number and basically says, "Danger Will Robinson!" and dumps sugars into the body to protect the body from too low of sugars. Silly Liver has gotten so used to higher numbers it doesn't recognize a good low number. The bounce is the higher numbers we're seeing because of the liver.

As you hit more and more nice numbers, you are re-teaching the liver it's ok and the bounces become fewer. :smile:
 
Thanks, Teresa. I know this is a marathon, not a sprint - Doug keeps reminding me that the damage was not done in a few weeks, so can't be fixed in a couple of weeks. But, some moments it gets frustrating when I want Hershey to feel better. :YMSIGH:
