So the best laid plans.... Apparently the power went out sometime while I was sleeping. I found out my secondary alarm that I use for tests and shots while I'm sleeping doesn't have a battery, it and all the other non-battery clocks in my house were flashing 12:00 :arghh: Since this shot is close to my preferred PM time I recorded it as a PM shot. I also dropped her to 1.2u since the 1.4u seems too much for reds. Hopefully she gets right back on track!

Note to self: buy battery for alarm clock or new battery-powered alarm clock. ;) You'll get her back again, Kimi.

Yes, I just bought a new battery-powered alarm clock so hopefully I won't be sleeping when Her Highness should be getting tested and/or insulin!

136 @ +8, looks like 1.2u was a good choice!

Hermione was sleeping next to me on the sofa so I got a HUGE surprise for AMPS!

66 for AMPS!!

I tested 3 times, once with FS and twice with AT strips for 69, 64 and 66. I went with 66 since it's the middle value and from an AT strip. I've gone ahead and given her half her regular meal and will retest.

112 after 2 1/2hrs post meal! I'm loving these numbers but wish she wouldn't do this when I should be sleeping ;) Good thing I'm on vacation from work for the next two weeks.

Just as I was about to give up and call NS she started rising.

144 after 5hr post-meal stall, 17hrs since last insulin! .2u given

I've got a feeling I'm being too cautious, last time I gave her a real CSD .4u wasn't enough and she bounced high again. But this time it took twice as long to show a real rise so I'm paranoid ;)

See - I was right! She wants a vacation from FD. :D:D

It must be her pancreas. If you will be home, you could try chasing the number. So test until you get a shootable number, dose and then wait until you get another shootable number (should be longer than +12). It's explained better in the Advanced Techniques sticky. It's a way to keep her in good levels consistently, but requires a lot of testing and your time.

I'm SO excited for her - and me! I told her all I wanted for Christmas was for her to get better regulated ;)

I'm off work for the rest of the month (I had a lot of vacation saved up, plus winter plant shutdown.) so I'm comfortable giving that a try!

Either the .2u I gave while I was falling asleep was a fur shot or it just wasn't enough.

She's at 491 now, I'm going to give her 1.2u again since that seemed to be a magic number for that red :) I've got no plans for tonight except to hang out with my critters.

So far Man in the High Castle is amazing! I've only got 2 more episodes left but the new season starts next week :)

Hermione is also doing amazing...

409 @ AMPS, 1u given

She was sitting with me as we finished season one of Man in the High Castle and watched tonight's of The Grand Tour so I figured we would be having another lovely surf in the blues. Unfortunately not, but I went ahead and gave a little reduction since she's barely in red. I'll get to test my new alarm clock for nadir! I'm thinking this red may be a bounce given her rapid rise from +9.

Frustrating I know, Kimi. She'll come back down. :)

I know Mr P will wander in and out before he hopefully decides to stay. I won't start to worry unless she stays up in red/black again. One up side is I could get uninterrupted sleep since she was still red at +2 ;)

325 at PMPS, 1u given

Looks like she's starting to clear the bounce so I stuck with 1u.

This phase is so difficult, almost like shooting blind. Test notwithstanding, it's hard to predict what they'll do.

168 for AMPS, .4u given

That was a safe dose the last time she was in the middle-high blues so I figured I'd go with it again. Fingers crossed!

Well that wasn't enough, or she's on her trampoline again. I like that she came down after nadir though!

Data gathering, data gathering....except that Hermione's target keeps moving.

Yes, the target keeps moving but she definitely feels so much better these past few weeks! She's back to being her busy-body self - grooming everyone and talking up a storm as she follows me around :cat:

283 @ +7

Maybe 1.2u wasn't enough or she's still coming down from her bounce. Data, data, data!

I forgot to update here because we had a bit of a crisis. Hermione is having another bout of soft poop (not really diarrhea and something she has been prone to her whole life) and got some stuck to her big fluffy tail. Of course this calls for running around the house like a maniac leaving poop streaks everywhere :arghh: After cleaning up (and after!) my little poop artist I can report on her blood sugar.

493 for AMPS (pre-poopcapade, actually taken 3 1/2 hrs ago), 1.2u given

I stuck with 1.2u just because I'm paranoid she'll drop low while I'm sleeping.

Oh my! I have been there in the past with fluffy bottoms and pantaloons! Short haired kitties are much easier in that respect. :D
A new day dawns in the world of rubber kitties ... onward we go.

I actually trim her butt floof back a bit to help avoid poopsicles (my vet's awesome suggestion!), but this time when she turned around to bury it she stuck the end of her tail right in  I was waiting to take a ketone test so I saw it happen. Her random bouts of soft poop have gone on her whole life and lots of normal test results have let my vet to conclude she just has a sensitive stomach. I'm just glad her litter brother who is fully long-haired - he looks like a Himalayan with a pointy Siamese face - doesn't share her stomach troubles! And yes, I much prefer short haired cats :p

Well, on to less poopy things!
