I have been to the place before where Baxter BG has dropped after eating. Its not by much, but it is a drop.

Before food this morning @148
1 hour after food @145.

For the last 3 weeks he has been receiving .50 in a U-40 syringe.

I guess this is the time I should start Micro Dosing? Its been awhile since I have done it. I have that little scared feeling inside about giving insulin since he is coming down.

I do have the day to play this game. I am stocked on test strips. I can catch his BG if it starts to rise.

Is Micro Dosing what I should do?
Catch his BG when it is rising then give insulin?

Baxter SS is updated.

Thank you for any suggestions.

You will need to pick a no shoot number that you are comfortable with, most use 150. Make sure you have a rising number and you can shoot as needed.

There have been 2 here recently that as needed shooting is working for.

I replied in general health, but I agree. I think you're safe, no reason based on the past not to, this insulin doesn't make him drop like crazy or antying so I'm sure you're safe.

What have you settled on food wise?

I gave him .25 he began to rise.

I have been feeding from sopho cat turkey & giblets. He seems to like it. The food game isn't fun. The goal is raw.

Thanks everyone.

Thank you so much for the supporting words & taking your time to look at his SS. Recently, I feel like we are stuck. The 3 weeks of him without insulin & then needing it again really messed with me. I try not to get to excited when I see his #s.

I think it's time to make the switch to the U100 syringes with the half unit markings to make it easier for you to micro dose. Then you can start looking at shooting lower numbers.

The 12/12 schedule still seems to be working for you so I would stick with it for now.

Doing the on again, off again has got to be tough. Baxter is so lucky to have you!

Yes it has been tough. It was so hard to not get excited, but I did get excited. I should have known better. It was just a 3 week teaser. It was such a good, happy feeling to be in that place with Baxter.
I am trying for that happy place again.

@Rob I have the U-100 needles. I am just confused on how to use them. I have read about them & looked at the convertion, but don't understand. I know I am making myself sound really stupid, but I am a person that has to be shown. Needles make me so nervous. I even asked my vet about them in hopes to have them show me the mark I need to use. They told me I shouldn't use the U-100s to stay with then U-40s.

To dose .2u in u-40, use the .5u mark on u-100 needles. .4u looks like 1u; etc. Each mark on the needle is equivalent to .2u in u-40. If you want to dose something like .5u, you would estimate halfway between the 1u and 1.5u lines.

Pic part way down the page here.
