I wanted to let you all know that we lost Henry yesterday around noon. My husband stayed home from work, so he was surrounded by the comfort of family and home. My children seem to be coping pretty well, but my husband and I are feeling very sad and missing him terribly.

Thank you to everyone who showed concern for his well being--I think that people who can show care for cats who they've never met are pretty incredible people! It's possible that I'll be back-my 16 year old's oncologist told me that one of the treatments can possibly cause diabetes. Sigh.

Best wishes, Stacy

Oh No, Stacy .... ever since you wrote about Henry I've been so worried how he was doing and this was really really really sad. It felt like I got to know him. I am so sorry for your loss of him.

You are welcome back any time, whether with a new diabetic or not. You and Henry are a part of the family here.

My deepest condelances and a long big warm hug for you and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I hope your family will find comfort in the memories of Henry.
Fly high little guy.

May peace be with you & your family. o:-)

I'm so sorry to hear that you had to say goodbye to Henry but am glad he was a home going over the rainbow bridge. Hugs, Jan

I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart aches for you.
Please know that he knows how much you love him and he knows you did all you could for him. He loves you too.
He will be waiting for you, until you can one day be reunited. In the meantime, picture him happy and healthy and playing chase the butterfly and the grasshopper in a sunny meadow, with all of our GAs that are waiting for us to return to them. ((((((((BIG HUGS)))))))))

Oh dear I am so very sorry. It is just sad and hard. I'm glad he was with your DH. ((((hugs)))))

I'm so sorry for your loss. Henry was welcomed by legions at the Bridge. Godspeed, sweet Henry. Send your family a sign so they know you made it safely to the Bridge.

Stacy I'm so very sorry for your loss of Henry. You and your family loved him and did everything you could to save him. My thoughts are with you.

Tears for you and sweet Henry. I read your other post and just saw this. I hope you'll stay- this is the best place to be for cat owners - diabetic or not.

Thank you to you all for your kind, heart felt replies and for extending an invitation to stick around. I'm so touched that you all took the time to offer us words of comfort. I've been looking through all of our family photos and remembering all of the years we had with Henry, and I thought I'd create a web album of some of them to share with you all. I hope it's OK to share a link here--it's to my picasa album. I'm still looking for more pictures to add, including his kitten ones, which are from the pre-digital camera days. :)

((((((Stacy and Family))))

Just seeing this...I am so sorry for your loss...Please feel free to stick around, it is one of the best places ever for all things feline related.

I also lost the kitty that lead me here shortly after finding this board, but I stayed, I learned how to better care for my remaining cats, then in October 2010, there came another sugarcat that needed a foster home or he would be put to sleep. He had survived Katrina just like my first girl, so we opened our heart and home to him...That was Maxwell, not only is he still with us, but he is now officially ours, we fell in love on the drive home from the airport with him..then this June we again adopted another extra sweet girl Musette.

While never in my wildest dreams did I think when I lost my sweet Muse I would ever take on another diabetic cat, Maxwell & Musette were two of the best decisions that we could have made, and in a way it made me a little less sad for her loss, because what she taught me allowed me to let her live on in Maxwell & Musette.

I'm so glad that you mentioned that someday, I might get to use what I learned here! I was thinking today, around the time that Henry's insulin was due, that I was all set to understand diabetes and kick its butt, and now after such a short time, I won't get to do that. I do hope that someday I can help another kitty should I need to. That's a beautiful way to look at this experience. I'm so glad that you were able to help Maxwell and Musette! It's a wonderful way to honor Muse's memory.

I'm grateful that you shared your experiences with me. It has really helped me

Hugs to Maxwell and Musette. :)

Stacy, that link is saying the web page cannot be found. I know we communicated through a pm and I would love to see the pictures of Henry. Can you please try again with the link?

I'm so glad you think so!

When he was a kitten, you could see a little of a tabby pattern in the grey. Adorable.

Gorgeous..he looked like a russian blue. Thank you for allowing us to see the pictures....and once again, my heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your beautiful Henry.

So terribly sorry for your grief.

Land softly, Henry.

He does look like a Russian Blue, but his mama was a feral rescue--I think she was white and tabby (it's was a long time ago!). I guess with litters of kittens, you never know what you'll get.

And thank you so much for lighting a candle in his memory. It means a lot to me that others understand what it feels like to lose a beloved pet. Outside of home, I'm just trying to pretend things are normal when they're not.

Stacy,
I'm so sorry Henry's body broke but Henry is now sitting on your shoulder. I love the way you're honoring him in your thoughts and paths. I just lost one Dec 30th and fighting for another right now so I send EXTRA EXTRA hugs - we both need them.

HUGS again - Henry's pics are beautiful.
