Spent all day yesterday from 9:30 am until 11 pm getting Grandma home and settled.
Also, I had been terribly upset about her cat, Love Bug who came up 4 years ago as a stray, ear tipped and neutered and wearing a collar with no tag.
Hes a very friendly and beautiful cat but never wanted to come inside.
So we used to keep Revolution on him, but then he started to run from you when you approached with it. For past several years, he had clawed at his face by his right ear and would get it raw, and lately he has looked really bad. We assumed it was ear mites. My mother and I bought a trap and tried to get him but he wouldn't go in even with stinky mackerel. We had talked to vet about bringing him in as soon as we caught him.
On Apr. 28, I was able to get some Revolution on him while his back was turned and he was eating. Then about 4 nights later my mother was at my Grandma's to feed the 2 cats and she called me terribly upset, he was unable to stand without falling while trying to get up on deck and was on the ground rolling and meowing. I was so upset I was sick and cried all night. My mother tried to wrap him up in a towel to move him but it seemed to make him more agiatated, so she covered him in box. She was convinced he was dying. By then it was after 12 am and no animal ER was open.
Next morning, hubby and I went with gloves and long sleeves to try to get him or bury him if he had passed. No sign of him. He would get under opening under deck that went under part of house sometimes, we looked everywhere in entire yard for him alive or dead. No sign. One of us went everyday to feed cats since Grandma wasn't home and looked for him. I had almost given up and thought somehow he had went off and died but didn't see how with shape my mother said he was in.
So on Wednesday night about 8 pm, my mother was there and he was on deck very hungry and thin, he ate 3 cans of food. He also had his head tilted to one side. I had told my mother if he came back, somehow I was getting him in a carrier and to vet. I went and was able to lure him into laundry room with tuna. Set up a litter box, food and water and left little carrier with towel in open. Thursday morning I went prepared to have a struggle getting him in carrier but he was lying in it awake and relaxed and I just went over and shut the door and took him to vet.
Well he didn't have ear mites, he had a large tumor in his ear pressing on ear drum. It is malignant but not type that spreads, stays local to ear canal, although she said it could slowly grow back. So he had tumor removed, dental, all vacs, CBC, other bloodwork, SQs, and a bath; all tests normal and neg. for FIV and FELV. 642.00 for all including boarding. My aunt payed the bill. We went to see him yesterday and he looks so much better already, head tilt has already improved, and balance. He meowed when he saw my mother and I and gave us head bonks through the cage. Vet says he is doing well, eating well, etc. He will be boarded through Monday for obsevation.
We are going to try to talk Grandma to let him live inside at least part of the time, if he will stay inside. He has always been tame and liked petting, but wouldn't come in. I feel sure he lived inside at some point from reaction in carrier and trip in car I'm sure he'd been in one before. I am overjoyed he came back and we were able to get him some help; just wanted to share.

Here's some pics of him from a few years ago:

You, your mom and aunt are angels.

What a lucky, handsome man Love Bug is.

Paws crossed grandma will let him and he wants to stay inside.

Oh, he is a handsome guy; hoping everything works out with him living inside with Grandma!

Take care -

You are a wonderful person for taking care of Love Bug. He is a pretty cat.

Big Hen show your momma some nice numbers!

I heard the expression once "You learn a lot about a person by the way they treat their animals" - as well as someone else's or strays! What an awesome group you & your family are for giving Love Bug a new lease on life! Thanks for showing him so much love - he'll never forget it, you know! :-D
