Last night Henry spit up his food with a little hairball in it and had diarrhea once, he has eaten today and no vomiting, but had diarrhea once this morning with a little blood in it. He seemed to feel a little bad last night, but better today. I decided to take him in to vet since it was the weekend. She ran a blood panel, fecal flotation, (had sample) everything was normal, kidney function, liver, red blood cells, etc, glucose was of course high 359, this was probably 2 hours after his shot this morning. He was very stressed and peed on me.
So, since there was some hair he spit up and he takes the baby aspirin she thinks the aspirin could be starting to irritate his stomach or possibly hair irritating his stomach. He had a 1/2 one last night before he spit up. (I give him 1/2 baby aspirin every 3 days for spinal disc problems that affected his walking). We are discontinuing the baby aspirin and although the fecal flotation was ok, she gave me Panacor in case he had tapeworms (non visible) for 3 days after he is better. Also am to put a little vegtable or canola oil on his food for hair since he can't take Laxatone and hairball paste because of the sugar in them. If he keeps vomiting I will need to take him back for xray.
Since we've been home hes eaten and has been drinking, acts like he feels ok.
Yesterday's numbers were bad, I attribute some of to not feeling well, and today's tests after AMPS to vet stress.

I am so sorry that Henry is not feelin well
hopefully it is jus tthe aspirin as since you stopeed he will feel better soon.
GNC pets make sifferent vitamins, and I know my one cat Lucy (mancoon)
has tons of furballs but I give her 2 of these vitamins a day and no more fur balls
I just dont know if it is ok to give to a diabetic cat

I hope Henry gets back to himself soon!

So sad Big Hen isn’t himself. And sorry you both had to deal with the stress of taking him to the vet. But it sounds like he’s doing better now, fingers and toes crossed!
Good vibes comin at ya full speed!

I was told there is a chicken flavored hairball remedy called Vetbasis hairball gel, and it is ok for diabetics. No trans fatty acids, no sugar, no sodium. I have it marked in my notes that Amazon carries it but you could check around. I am sure other pet supply places on the web have it. I haven’t used it but got the info from somewhere here on FDMB.

Hey Angela, I hope Henry is feeling better by now. Don't you just hate it when you go to the vet, they run bloodwork then say they can't find anything wrong. Story of my life! I have hesitated to take them to the vet for just that reason. :YMHUG:

Thanks everyone.
So far no more runs or vomiting.
Hes acting good like himself and appetite is good.
Thanks Denise and Donna for info about hairball treatments I wrote down the names and am going to check them out; he really needs it his hair is long and he grooms a lot.
