Thank you for your suggestions everyone. Sorry it seemed like I disappeared. I'm working hard trying to keep Buffy eating and active, and I have a lot of humans who need me so I'm just now getting back on.
Buffy has had diarrhea for 3 weeks, which is what has caused the irritation. She did seem to be puffy to me, but not overly so, and pink colored - not red, and I assumed hemorrhoid type problem. I applied olive oil or Vaseline and it would settle down. I took her to vet this morning and there is no sign of prolapse, so good news there anyway.
I'm just stumped as to what to feed her. I've gone through can after can trying to find something that appeals to her. She came out of hiding when I was frying bacon, so I know there's something she'll eat. Vet who performed her pancreatitis test had me get her on B12, which I did. We won't know the results for a week, but he said I'm doing the right things with the daily subq fluids, and he's calling in an appetite stimulant that's for twice daily use. She continues on Albon for another 5 days and it's making her mouth dry and seems as if it's hard for her to chew. She was off subq fluids for 2 days, and I'm thinking it will help the dry mouth now that she's back on.
Does anyone have experience with pancreatitis? She's had weight loss with the diarrhea and I'd like to find some foods that might appeal to her that would not do harm. Vet is telling me she needs low fat. Her BGs seem in good control.
Thanks.
