Good night everyone. Has anyone had any expirence with hemoglobuline in urine. ?

About a week ago I got positive for hemoglobulin in Babu's urine (50 ca) in the test I give him regularly at home with strips, I contacted the vet and he asked for a sample to do an urinalisis. It confirmed the results also the vet found some bacteria so he gave Babu a shoot of antibiotics last sunday.

The thing is that is almos a week and I 've keep on testing him and results are basically the same.
His BG is still ok and on normal levels.

Any suggestions what should I ask the vet for is there something I can do?

He's eating just fine, and acting really normal if it werent't for the test results I wouldn't think something is wrong with him

Did your vet do a culture on the urine sample to determine what antibiotic the bacteria was sensitive to? You mentioned a shot of AB...was it Convenia? If so Convenia is not the best choice for UTIs, especially without a culture. When my kitties show blood on the urine chemstrips I have used Zenequin for 10 days and had good results within 2 or 3 days...(no blood showing on the chemstrip). IF the vet gave Convenia it lasts in the system for up to 2 weeks and doing a culture will not give accurate results until it has cleared the system.

Not shure what AB did he shoot I'll ask him also I'll ask him about the culture ( honestly I don't think he did I think he just saw there were bacteria and that was it )

He want's to do an ultra sound, which may not be a bad idea but that means I have to take Babu to his office and he gets soo stressed plus getting him to be still is really difficult , I know he is even considering giving him a mild sedation so I'm not very happy about it,

Babu has just been OTJ for a few days I'm afraid he may even get out of remission last time we visited the vet his BG registred 150 more than at home

A culture would have had to have been sent off to an outside lab and would have taken a number of days before the results would be back. Sounds like they did a microscope examination which would have shown bacteria. However, as I said before Convenia is not a recommended AB for UTIs. I personally would never allow it to be used for my two for anything. I am not sure why the vet wants an U/S done if all that has been shown is that there is a UTI.
