Hello everyone - It's been quite a while! I don't know how many of my old soldiers-in-syringes are still here...a friend's cat was diagnosed last month, and this morning I'm going to show her how to hometest! I'm kind of rusty...I'm assuming nothing much has changed? I told her to get a reli on meter..

Anyway, I'll try to get her to join the board. Her name is Janet and her cat's name is Callie, so keep an eye out for them! She'll need help making a spread sheet and stuff, which I never learned how to do. We are in Maryland. Callie is 13, and her vet did not tell Janet what her BG was at the time of diagnosis. Callie is on 1U of lantus BID and has not made the transition to wet food yet.

Wish me luck! I'm going to dig out my meters, and will bring a few cans of food to try and some "My Little Lion" no-grain treats.

Lancet size: 26 gauge to start

Rice sock or pill bottle, warmed

Syringes: U-100 with half unit markings, 3/10 cc, 5/8" needles

See Secondary Monitoring Tools signature link for urine ketone testing, 5 Ps, and some miscellaneous tactics.

Thanks! I forgot to ask her if her syringes had half unit markings, but I still have some - I'll bring a few along just in case - she wasn't informed about ketones, but I'm planning to talk about that as well.

Where does everyone buy supplies ton line these days? I used to use Hock's Pharmacy, and FDMB would get a little kickback.

I've ordered from Amercian Diabetes Wholesale and they've been great. They've got a little banner near the top, or you can get to them from the "Shop" link above - FDMB gets a kickback from them. Prices seem really good, too.
