I can't help but I've emailed a couple of others to see if we can get an answer for you....

BIG HUG...I know, this waiting for an answer is TERRIBLE about right now...

given mali's health issues, i think the safest thing to do is to call your vet or the nearest ER and ask them.
be sure to tell them of any other meds mali may be taking.

I know your vet is closed and the ER doesn't open until later.

Phone number on the packaging for overdose questions: 800-755-4008

I think I also have a pet od hotline number...I'll look for it.

I'm not sure.....let me see if I can do some looking around. I don't think ONE time is horrible but I just don't know.

BRB.

What happens if I overdose the pet:
Overdose is rare. If overdose is suspected, seek emergency veterinary medical treatment. Symptoms of famotidine overdose may include vomiting, restlessness, pale gums, rapid heart frate, or collapse.

likr marje, i don't think it will be a problem. however, it's best if you call your vet/ER and watch for any of the symptoms listed above.

you could call any ER or 24 hour facility. it doesn't have to be the one you usually go to or is closest to your home.

Any update?

Jill had a good recommendation to call ANY ER vet. Hopefully they won't give you the same line they always give here: "no advice over the phone; bring them in" :YMSIGH: :YMSIGH: :YMSIGH:

I am so sorry to get everybody going b/c I can't follow directions and just got going too fast

I just talked to an ER vet that we've been to before that IS open on Saturday during the day and he said Pepcid would not hurt her and I emphasized the overdose and still said it would not hurt her.I just checked on her and although she has been lethargic with everything else going on, she seems fine..no foaming, vomiting respiratory seemd fine.
Thanks everybody for responding so quickly...now go an enjoy your weekend :RAHCAT

Whew.....

I'd keep the ASPCA number on hand.

I think she's had enough pepcid for today. I wouldn't give her another dose tonight. And....toss out the 20mg or put it where you can't get to it for her. Get some 10mg and be sure it is PEPCID AC. Don't get Pepcid complete or any other pepcid. I found it cheapest at Walmart.

yeah, i don't think it will be a problem. i'd just keep an eye on her. if you notice any symptoms, you'll have to seek veterinary help.
