Help?!

Shadow has me concerned tonight.

Tonight is the first time ever that he hasn't eaten all his food. He usually gets two small cans twice a day- tonight he only ate 1 1/4. Also, I measured his water this morning when I refilled his bowl- he didn't drink any today. I looked in his litter box and there was some pee, but I think I changed it last yesterday morning. So not sure if that is from today or yesterday. He's just laying around- which isn't really all that abnormal. He is purring when I pet him.

His fur on his neck is not tenting, so no sign of dehydration. He's not breathing abnormally, no ketotic smell, no vomiting today that I've seen...

I'm not sure if he didn't eat because it's so hot here? In the 90s today. Or if I should be worrying?
 
I tried to give him a treat- he wasn't interested. Trying to test his urine for ketones, but he hasn't gone yet.... Just put Saran Wrap in the litter box- will check again in a few minutes.
 
Are you adding water to his food? If so, that might be why he hasn't drank anything. Neither of my cats "drink" any water; in fact, Henry has never drank any water since I got him. (Michelangelo, of course, drank a ton of water up until about 2 weeks to a month after I'd switched him to wet.)

For eating, I wouldn't be overly concerned about a skipped meal, but keep an eye on it and make sure he's eating enough over the next couple of days. I would possibly also leave him food out to graze if you're not already doing so. Since it's hot and he's been immobile all day, he might simply not need the extra calories right now. When my cats are being extremely lazy, they only go through about 2 cans of Friskies in a day vs. their average 4.
 
He may be moving towards a good insulin dose for him - he did get down to 89 today. Combined with the heat, that could explain it too.
 
Just saw the post from BJ about decreasing to 2.75. I will decrease tonight because we got an 84 today.

Shadow ate better this morning, but not like normal. Had diarrhea overnight. There was one medium clump from urine this morning, but nothing since then so I haven't been able to test for ketones.

He's still act normal- like all the other animal in the house today- laying around trying to find somewhere cool.

I just looked back at when he was at 2.75. I thought he wasn't doing good, but were those blacks on the 20th and 23rd after the PM dosing bounces from the 190 numbers we had during the day? After the highs on the 23rd I didn't really give a full 3 days for him to clear before going up to 3units..... hmmmmm

Yes, that is a good possibility of what happened. Bouncing.
