Hello everyone my name is Conniescatranch
I have had a lot of cat in my life but never one with diabetics, until now, I am looking for help with foods to feed and any kind
of helpful information to get my cat back on track to be healthy. My cats name is Smokie and I have had him since birth he is 7 years
old,. When he was 3 he developed crystals in his Urine, And his penis had to be removed. Given special diet for a year he has had no problems
and back on regular food. 2 months ago I notice he was at his water bowl all the time, and acting strange I was worried and thought it might be his Kidneys
so I took him to the Vet. They ran test and came back he was a diabetic. They gave me two choices insulin or Senvelgo not knowing much about either one
I picked Senvelgo, they gave me directions how to give and a $400.00 dollar bill and sent me on my way and to return in 30 days. When I went back they ran
the same test gave me a refill and said his blood levels were normal and another $400.00 dollar bill and return in 30 days. If remission is possible I need to get
on it. I can't afford $400.00 dollars a month. I welcome any information I can get. Thank you in advance

Not too many people here use Senvelgo. There's some info here: Info - New Treatments for Feline Diabetes

I think you would still want to test blood glucose levels daily on Senvelgo to see how the medicine is working for your cat. Any Human blood glucose meter works. You take a blood drop from the edge of the ear or a paw pad.

Did the vet run blood work to determine diabetes, specifically a fructosamine test?

Diet is part of managing the diabetes. What are you currently feeding your cat?

Are you testing your kitty for ketones in the urine? You will need a bottle of Ketostix from the pharmacy or Walmart. It is important to check for ketones while giving the oral diabetic drugs.
