Hi looking for help from Bhooma or Chris please. I am entering data onto my SS and I'm sure it's simple and I understand the concept for entering after a shot is given I'm just stumped as to how to log the Fasting BG before the shot. Would you just enter under the AMPS or PPMS with no time?? HELP!!!!!

The AMPS is the AM Pre-Shot...the test you should get immediately before feeding/shooting in the morning.

With Lantus, you can Test/Feed/Shoot, all in 5-10 minutes. You test to make sure they're high enough for insulin at all, Feed to make sure they're at least willing to eat and shoot, usually with their head in the bowl.

The + cells correspond to the number of hours since the shot. We're in all different time zones here so we use the + system. We don't care what the actual time is...we need to know how long it's been since the last shot, so (for example) if you T/F/S at 6am and get another test at 9am, that's 3 hours since the shot, so the test number goes in the +3 cell. If you test again at 1pm, that's 7 hours since the shot so goes in the +7 cell....all the way up to +11 and then it's time to start over with the PMPS (PM Pre-Shot)

Be sure to put the link to your spreadsheet into your "Signature" because when you have questions or need help, we will need to see your spreadsheet. Putting it there means it'll always be there and we won't have to waste time asking you to post it.

Now I completely understand.

You're not alone! A lot of people take one look and think it's a lot more complicated than it actually is!'

You'll be surprised at how soon you'll start thinking in "+ hours" instead of the actual time. I'd look at the clock and instead of thinking "it's 2 o'clock", I'd think "it's +8". Even for a long time after China passed, when I looked to check the time, I just automatically converted the real time to the + time!

I am new and struggling with the spreadsheet. If I have a bg for 2:00pm where does it go- am or pm. And do I count from the morning shot? It would be 8 hours from the morning shot. Does it go under 8 ok n the pm sidSo if the am shot was at 6:00am where do I put the 2:00pm number and does it go in the pm section? Where do overnight numbers go? Thank you. I know this is very important

Hi Dayna,

I am also new here, but there's always someone around to help. The AMPS and PMPS do not necessarily correspond to AM and PM on a 12-hour clock. They are just generalizations for morning and evening, since there are two 12-hour cycles per day regarding your cat's insulin administration. Typically one starts in the morning and the other in the evening. Now, say you give your cat her shots at 6:00am and 6:00pm, those times would be the AMPS and PMPS respectively. So if you gave a shot at 6:00am and checked the glucose again at 2:00pm, that glucose value would be entered in the AM cycle's +8 column since 2:00pm is 8 hours after 6:00am. The +11 would go all the way up to 5:00pm for your AM cycle, and then 6:00pm would begin a new cycle at PMPS. That cycle would loop back around up to 5:00am (+11) for the PM cycle and beginning a new AM cycle at 6:00am (AMPS).

I hope this helps. You'll get the hang of it.
