? Help with Civvie & UTI

My civvie has a uti & is not doing so good tonight. He's lethargic & he's somewhat dehydrated. He hasn't eaten since Saturday so I've been Shri he feeding him watered down wet food. This afternoon I fed him 4 teaspoons of kitten formula mixed with water for a total of 8 teaspoons.

We just gave him some pedialite & on giving him some more shortly.

I can't take him to me regular vet ad they are closed & I have no money to take him to the emergency vet, I just spent my last $150 on him yesterday.

He's currently on metacam 0.22cc's, he's had a total of 2 doses of it orally in the last 24hrs plus clavaseptin as an antibiotic which he's had a total of 2 pills now, one last night & one tonight.

Is there anything else I can do to help him? I'm so worried about him!!
 
He may be reluctant to drink because it hurts to pee. If he's dehydrated that'll make him feel cruddy, too. Try syringing some water sideways on across the mouth - and slowly so that he has time to swallow.

What's more worrying is that he hasn't eaten for so long. Is he nauseated at all?

Nausea & appetite problems - symptoms and treatments

In an ideal world anti-nausea and appy stimulants could help with that. Would your vet be able to issue a written Rx for a small supply of meds to help your boy? Also maybe try feeding him small and very, very frequent amounts of food/water mixture - either from your hand or see if he will lick it from your fingers (might taste better when it's 'mommy flavour'.) Else syringe feed. With very little food in his tum he may get a build-up of tummy acid. If you can't get anything else then Pepcid AC (i.e. PLAIN famotidine) might help some bit. (Not sure of tablet size or dose - I think it's 2.5mg q24 for a 10lb cat but confirm elsewhere and check with your vet before administering.)

Try simple things like raising his food and water bowls a few inches off the floor and also warming the soupy food a little. Another thing to try might be the plain meat and broth baby foods available that side of the water (possibly Beechnut??? Not sure of brand - needs to be free from onion, garlic or any other inappropriate ingredients for cats. Again wait for other members to confirm or do a forum search for recommendations on good baby foods for cats.)

If e-coli is at the root of the UTI then d-mannose may help (check with your vet first). Here's a thread with more info (in later posts):

I use NOW brand d-mannose (pure).
