should I test after food or before food. It raises after my cat eats and I don't know which reading I should be using to determine Insulin dosage. Tks

Hi. The order is 1) Test, 2) Feed, 3) Give shot. You do not want your pre-shot test result to be impacted by food, so withhold food for two hours before.

Yes, that's correct. You also need to know how low a dose of insulin drops the BG so we recommend a test near the nadir. That's the time of peak insulin action where BG should be lowest and it generally falls 5 to 7 hours after the shot.
